We want you to get the care you deserve.

Our history

West Isle Urgent Care opened on March 12, 2007 in response to the need for true urgent care medicine on Galveston Island. The clinic was the vision of emergency medicine physician Dr. Edward Zompa and family practice physician Dr. Gerard Guderian. Emergency physician Dr. Douglas Kasper joined the practice in 2008.

Hurricane Ike

In 2008, Galveston Island was devastated by Hurricane Ike. Less than 48 hours after the storm, West Isle Urgent Care was opened and provided care to the public. For the next six weeks, patients with varying medical problems and injuries were treated free of charge. During this period, West Isle Urgent Care, in partnership with the Texas Department of health and Galveston County Health district provided tetanus vaccinations for over 5,000 people at no charge. For approximately six months after the storm, the clinic was the only operating permanent medical facility on the Island. The clinic and Dr. Zompa were recognized by the Houston Chronicle as Heroes of The Storm. The Galveston County Health District also recognized Dr. Zompa as a Hurricane Ike Public Health Hero.

Our Philosophy

At West Isle Urgent Care, our philosophy is that you and your family, or employees, deserve access to rapid high-quality medical care in an urgent care setting. We are the only Category One urgent care facility on Galveston Island. Our facility is staffed only by physicians specifically trained or experienced in emergency medicine or urgent care medicine. It is our belief that in these days of increasing medical insurance costs, you deserve to see a doctor and not just a practitioner or physician assistant supervised by a physician from another location. Our laboratory is fully certified and accredited. Our radiology facilities are fully certified and accredited by the Inter-Societal Accreditation Commission on computer Tomography. We use only licensed and fully certified radiology technicians with CT training. We provide only urgent care and occupational medicine services without the distraction of cosmetic medicine procedures, weight loss treatment, or other non-urgent or non-emergency services. Our concern is your acute medical problem.

  • VETERAN SUPPORT

West Isle Urgent Care fully supports our military troops and veterans. We actively hire both disabled and non-disabled military veterans. West Isle Urgent Care has been recognized by the Office of the Secretary Defense as a Patriotic Employer and has been presented with the Above And Beyond Award for employing military veterans and National Guard reservists. In 2012 we were nominated for the Pro-Patria Award which is the highest award given to employers who hire military veterans.

  • CHARITABLE SUPPORT

West Isle Urgent Care actively supports many local organizations and charities including: The Children's Center, Inc., West Isle Little League, Every Day Heroes, Galveston Life guarding Association, Camp Southern Ground, Trinity Episcopal Church, Project Graduation and many others.
